Plastic TelRad® Dew Shield
I've included instructions for making a simple plastic dew shield that works reasonably well.
I've used painter's tape for a few years to attach the plastic dew shield to the TelRad. Painter's tape has the advantages of being easy to remove and inexpensive.
I recently bought TelRad's (dew shield with) mirror because I wanted to use the mirror to make it easier to find objects near zenith. When my plastic dew shield is covered with dew I cannot use the TelRad mirror. Therefore, I changed from painter's tape to Velcro to attach my plastic dew shield to the TelRad.
I have had mixed results using the Velcro vs. painter's tape. When my plastic dew shield is covered with dew the Velcro makes it very easy to remove one side of my plastic dew shield to use the TelRad mirror. However, the adhesive backing on the Velcro is sometimes weaker than the Velcro, and tends to pull off either the TelRad or my plastic dew shield. I may change back to the painter's tape.
